Gift-Giving

Something about gift-giving that I feel most of us don't understand

I recently received some Valentine's gifts from one of my friends, which contained a lot of stuff. When I got to know she would give me gifts, the first thing that came to my mind was that "I needed to get her something as well". Why?
She told me that, it wasn't about giving and then receiving back, but for her, it was a way to show her appreciation and love, as for her I was a precious person to her, here in the UK, ever since she came!!

After receiving all the gifts and coming home and unpacking them, I realized this:

"a person can give anything and call it a day, but to give something personalized, special and something you love, knowing and remembering you like it, that is when you know that the person didn't just give it to you for the sake of gifting but actually meant to show their love, appreciation for you.

If somebody gifts me something saying, "Pearl, I love you lots/ I appreciate you/ you are precious to me/ I wanna show my love by giving you this, something that I know you love, by putting effort and time into getting/making it for you, because of my love for you/ keeping in mind of what you like, love and don't like, " then whatever they gift me, smallest or biggest, cheapest or expensive, if I like it, and they put their genuine effort in it. then I would feel their love in that gift!!!

and that is when you know it's not an exchange of gifts, it's just a gift and a precious one at that!!"

I sincerely welcome you to share the most precious gift you have received and why is it so precious to you?

Emotions

Feelings, we have them and felt them, but have we ever sat with them, going to the depth of why they are there, what are they trying to tell us?

I had always wondered why people do the things they do because that is something that was in their control, there must have been a backstory of thoughts that led them to this decision. But feelings are something that is not always in our control, we feel happy because someone remembered a small detail about our life, and we feel frustrated when someone doesn't understand what we are saying. Now these feelings of happiness and frustration are emotions, and even though how we react to them is in our control, those feelings and what they make us feel at times are not entirely in our control.

I wonder how people deal with their emotions, do they sit with their feelings, analyse them, ask themselves why they are feeling this way, and get to the root of it? or do they ignore them, don't allow themselves to fully let those feelings in, try to keep them silent, try to forget them, keeping it deep down so nobody, not even themselves knows they are feeling that way? or sometimes they are not even aware that they are feeling this way? Or are they aware, and they sit with those emotions until they pass? Or do they use all of these ways in different kinds of situations? AHHHHH!!

This question of how people deal with their emotions and how did they learn to deal with it this way is my Roman Empire. Did someone teach them how to deal with emotions, like a friend giving them a piece of wise advice about it, or a parent sat with them, supporting them through it all? Or do they see their emotions as a question that needs an answer? Or did no one ever teach them how to deal with their emotions, so they spent their life seeing those emotions as war? Or did they learn it all by themselves through life, teaching themselves how to get through it? And how do they handle those big, complex, and heavy emotions? Do they even deal with them or do they just sit with them treating those feelings like a wave in the ocean of emotions? God am losing my mind and the point.

God! My list of questions is endless. So I ask you for answers, what do feelings and your emotions mean to you? How do you deal with them and who taught you to deal with them this way? and does this way of dealing with your emotions serve you right? & lastly, are you alright?

Disclaimer: These might be some heavy questions, I might not make sense in some of the questions here, and as the question here is quite open, the answer might vary from situation to situation, reading this might have made you lose your mind, and am sorry about that! But do try to answer these questions if you can, I would love to hear what you have to say regarding this. Thank you!!

Songs

🎶What makes you like the songs you do?

Studies have shown that when we listen to music, our brains release dopamine, which makes us happy.
